Privacy Policy — Bami
Last updated: October 4, 2026
Summary
Bami stores all your cycle, pregnancy, symptom, mood, and note data on your device. Data leaves your device only in these cases: when you use AI features (section 5), when you switch on Partner Sharing (section 6), in the anonymous daily counters described in section 5a, and in an encrypted backup you make yourself (section 8). Requests to our server carry a pseudonymous device code, described in section 5b.
1. What We Do Not Collect
- No sign-up, no email, no phone number. The name you type during setup stays on your device; it leaves only as a nickname inside AI requests (section 5) and, if you use Partner Sharing, as the display name your partner sees (section 6)
- No user accounts or login
- No health data kept on our servers, except the Partner Sharing items you explicitly switch on (section 6) and the anonymous daily counters in section 5a, one of which records which mode the app was used in that day
- No location tracking
- No advertising, no advertising identifier
- No data sharing with third parties for commercial purposes
2. App Permissions
Bami asks for these permissions, each only when the feature that needs it is used:
- Notifications — cycle reminders and daily health tips. You can decline or turn them off anytime in Settings.
- Camera — only when you choose to photograph a checkup sheet. The photo is saved in Bami's own storage on your device, not in your photo library. You can also pick an existing photo through the system picker, which gives Bami only the photo you choose.
- Face ID — only to protect your backup recovery key, with your passcode as a fallback.
Bami does not request access to your microphone, contacts or location.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored entirely on your device:
- Menstrual cycle information
- Pregnancy data (gestational week, weight, blood pressure, baby kicks, appointments)
- Daily symptoms and mood
- Personal notes
- Checkup records and their photos
- Chat history and AI memory
- Weekly Rhythm plans, your ticks, recipes and your lifestyle answers
- App settings
You have full control. You can delete all data anytime in Settings → "Delete all data".
4. Offline Usage
Bami works fully offline for all cycle tracking, daily logging, statistics, and calendar features. No internet connection is required for these features.
5. AI Features (requires internet)
When you use AI features (Chat, daily tips and notifications, health analysis, checkup sheet reading, health report export, the AI note for your partner, Talk to Your Baby, Weekly Rhythm and its recipes), the data that request needs is sent through our server to the Google Gemini API:
- Chat, daily tips and analysis: cycle day, phase, mood, symptoms (or gestational week in pregnancy mode) and what you logged today — including the note you wrote that day, period or spotting, cervical mucus, ovulation and pregnancy tests, basal body temperature, pain relievers taken, and glucose in pregnancy mode. Chat also sends the notes from your current cycle and up to three previous cycles and, if your goal is trying to conceive or natural contraception, whether intimacy was logged today. Daily tips also include the first 60 characters of your notes from up to three earlier days on which a tip was made, together with that day's mood and symptoms. Plus the messages you type in Chat, the facts you've shared that AI memory recorded, and the nickname you entered so Bami can address you.
- Health report export (Premium): if you include the AI summary, the totals from the report period (the length of each cycle and how regular they are, period and flow, postpartum bleeding days, user-confirmed ovulation days, symptoms, mood, cervical mucus, spotting, and pregnancy measurements in pregnancy mode), your nickname, and, only if you choose to include notes, the notes you wrote.
- AI note for your partner (Premium): if you switch on the AI note in Partner Sharing and have logged something today, the app sends only what you already share with your partner, for today and the previous three days: with cycle phase on, the cycle day and phase (in pregnancy, the week and trimester); with period status on, period dates and the next period (in pregnancy, the due date, only together with phase or fertility); with fertility on, the fertile window, ovulation, cervical mucus, a positive ovulation test and basal body temperature; with daily log on, each of mood, symptoms, notes (today only), weight and blood pressure whose own switch is on. Recurring mood and symptoms from your last three cycles follow the same switches. Your language and region and the last few AI notes (so it does not repeat itself) are also sent. It does not send AI memory, anyone's name, or spotting, pregnancy tests, pain relievers, glucose or kick counts (see section 6).
- Talk to Your Baby: your pregnancy week, your language, your nickname and the companion you picked — no log data.
- Checkup sheet reading (Premium): the checkup photo you choose to analyse and, if you confirm the comparison step, a numeric summary of your logs (no free-text notes).
- Recipes (Premium): when you open the recipe for a dish, the app sends that dish with its side, drink, the plan's one-line method and allergen note, plus your cooking time, allergies/restrictions, region, language and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding (so food-safety rules apply) — not your name.
- Region: the two-letter country code of where you live (e.g. `VN`, `JP`) is sent with Chat, daily tips and notifications, analysis, the AI note for your partner, Weekly Rhythm and recipes (not with Talk to Your Baby, checkup reading or health report export), so Bami suggests food you can actually buy nearby and hours that match daily life there. It defaults to your device's region setting and you can change it any time in Settings → Region. It is a country code, not GPS; Bami never uses location services.
Weekly Rhythm (Premium)
When a weekly plan is made (and again if you ask for a new one), the app sends:
- your mode (cycle, pregnancy or postpartum) and, in cycle mode, the goal you chose (for example tracking your cycle, trying to conceive, or natural contraception);
- for each day of the coming week: the cycle day, the predicted phase and whether the day falls in the predicted fertile window; or the pregnancy week and trimester; or the postpartum week and whether you are breastfeeding;
- a summary of the last 7 days: how many days you logged, weight (first and last entry), blood pressure and glucose readings as numbers only (no free text), the number of days with a period or spotting, mood, symptoms and sleep quality as counts, average water intake, and in pregnancy mode the number of days you logged baby kicks (not the counts);
- the labels and times of the vitamin reminders you set;
- the lifestyle answers you gave: type of day, meal times, cooking time, allergies/restrictions and disliked foods;
- how last week's plan went: the share of meal, movement and rest items you ticked, the meals you skipped more than once and the movement you kept up;
- your app language, your region, and the companion you picked (its name and speaking style).
Weekly Rhythm does not send the name you entered. Before the first plan, Bami shows a one-time screen naming Google Gemini and listing what is sent; nothing is sent until you agree. The plan and your ticks stay on your device.
How AI requests are handled
- Our server acts only as a proxy between the app and Google Gemini. It does not copy or store the content of AI requests or replies.
- Under Google's paid API terms, Google does not use data sent through the Gemini API to train or improve its AI models. Google may retain logs for a limited period for abuse detection and legal compliance, per Google's Privacy Policy.
- Personal notes are not sent in daily notifications, with one exception: the reminder that helps you prepare for an upcoming pregnancy checkup is written from your logs of the last 28 days, or since your previous checkup if that was more recent (at least 7 days), including up to five of your notes from that period, weight, blood pressure, kick counts, mood and symptoms.
- Chat history, weekly plans and recipes are stored on your device only, not on our server. You can delete chat history and individual AI memory entries at any time.
- Like any web service, our server keeps technical access logs (IP address, timestamp, API path) for up to 10 days for security and abuse prevention. These logs contain no health data or message content.
5a. Anonymous Usage Statistics
To understand which features are used and whether the app is working, Bami sends small anonymous counters to our server. Each counter is a fixed name — for example "the paywall was opened", "a purchase was cancelled", "the weekly plan screen was opened" or "an AI notification could not be generated". No user or device identifier, no health values, no notes, no messages.
Once a day the app also sends a few counters that describe how it was used that day, each as a separate +1: the mode or goal in use (cycle tracking, trying to conceive, natural contraception, pregnancy or postpartum), the app language, the platform, free or Premium, and whether the app is still in use 1, 7 or 30 days after first use. Each counter is sent at most once a day and never combined with another, so they cannot be joined into a profile.
We keep only the counter name and the day it was received (not the time), for 400 days, then delete it. The IP address is used only in memory to limit how many counters one network can send, and is not written to the database. We only look at daily totals. These counters are not shared with third parties and are not used for advertising or tracking.
5b. Device Code
Requests for AI features, checkup reading and Partner Sharing carry a pseudonymous device code: the anonymous app user ID created by RevenueCat, our subscription provider; or, if that is unavailable, the identifier Apple gives Bami on your device (identifier for vendor); or a random code the app creates. It is not your name, email, Apple ID or advertising identifier. The anonymous counters in section 5a do not carry it.
We use it to:
- check with RevenueCat whether Premium is active;
- apply daily usage limits and prevent abuse — these tallies are kept only in server memory and reset daily (weekly for Weekly Rhythm);
- estimate how many devices use the app and its AI each day — the code is mixed with a secret key into a daily summary from which no single code can be read back; these summaries are kept for 400 days;
- connect you and your partner in Partner Sharing (section 6).
The device code is not stored together with the content of your AI requests.
6. Partner Sharing (Premium)
When you enable Partner Sharing:
- Whatever you switch on is temporarily stored on our server so your partner can view it. The full list of what can be switched on: cycle phase and day, mood, period status, fertility, AI note, notification text, water, sleep, pregnancy weight, blood pressure, vitamins taken, symptoms, personal notes, and upcoming appointments. Only the items you switch on are sent; anything switched off is not sent and is not kept.
- While you are connected, the app also shares whether you have logged anything today (yes or no), so your partner's screen can tell an empty day from an old update.
- AI note: the AI note is written by Google Gemini only from the items you share with your partner (listed in section 5), never from items you have switched off, AI memory or names. It is written and shared only when the AI note is switched on and you have logged something that day; your partner sees the finished note, not your log.
- To keep the two of you connected, our server stores a link record: the device codes of both phones (section 5b), the display names you each entered, the share code, the items you allowed, and the times the link was created and confirmed and the last reminder was sent.
- This data is only shared with the partner you explicitly confirmed. No one else can access it.
- You have full control over which information is shared via toggles in Settings. Personal notes are shared only if you allow it. Switching an item off deletes it from the server immediately.
- You can disconnect at any time — the shared items are immediately deleted from the server. The link record is marked as ended and currently stays on the server.
- This feature requires a Premium subscription.
7. Premium Payments
- Bami is free for all cycle and pregnancy tracking features.
- Premium (monthly/yearly subscription) unlocks: Weekly Rhythm, a higher AI Chat allowance, in-depth daily health analysis, checkup sheet reading, earning AI companions through app engagement, multi-slot notifications, the home-screen widget, Partner Sharing, and health report export.
- In addition to the subscription, some AI companions can be bought as one-time purchases (non-renewing); once bought they are yours permanently and can be restored on a new device via "Restore purchases".
- Payments are processed entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions; RevenueCat receives the transaction details from Apple/Google (not your card details), and our server sends RevenueCat your anonymous app user ID to check whether Premium is active.
- We do NOT access your payment card or banking information.
8. Data Backup
- Bami encrypted backup: you can export a backup file or let Bami save it to your own iCloud. The backup is encrypted on your device and only your recovery key can open it; it never passes through our server.
- Your device may also back up app data through iCloud (iOS) or Google Drive (Android) if you have enabled that. This is an operating-system feature, not controlled by Bami.
9. Website & Launch Waitlist
Our website (https://cycle.trybami.app) may let you voluntarily submit your email address to receive release notifications (for example, when the Android version launches). If you choose to, we store only that email and the date you signed up — solely to send you the notification you signed up for. We never share or sell it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time via the contact below. It is never linked to any in-app health data.
10. Children
Bami is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The latest version is always available in the app at Settings → Privacy Policy.
